Vocabulario para IELTS Speaking: palabras que te llevan a Band 7+
En Band 7, los examinadores esperan vocabulario "menos común" con "comprensión del estilo y las colocaciones". Esta guía te da palabras concretas y formas de usarlas naturalmente.
El principio de mejora
No aprendas palabras al azar. Toma palabras básicas y mejóralas:

Educación
- critical thinking — "Schools should prioritize critical thinking over memorization"
- lifelong learning — "Lifelong learning is essential in today's job market"
- curriculum — "The curriculum should be updated to reflect modern needs"
- rote learning — "Rote learning has its place, but it shouldn't dominate education"
Medio ambiente
- sustainable — "We need more sustainable energy sources"

Colocaciones: suena natural
Las colocaciones son combinaciones de palabras que los hablantes nativos usan naturalmente. Usar la colocación incorrecta suena raro, incluso si la gramática es correcta.

Nota para hispanohablantes: "take a decision" es un error muy común porque en español decimos "tomar una decisión". En inglés, la colocación correcta es "make a decision".
Cómo aprender vocabulario de forma efectiva
- Aprende en contexto — no memorices listas. Aprende palabras de artículos, podcasts y conversaciones.
- Aprende colocaciones — "Heavy rain" es más útil que solo "heavy".
- Úsalas de inmediato — ¿aprendiste "detrimental"? Úsala en tu práctica ese mismo día.
- 5 palabras al día — calidad sobre cantidad. Es mejor dominar 5 que olvidar 20.
- Repasa semanalmente — lleva un cuaderno y repasa cada domingo.
